<ol><li>abstract (summary)- n .ملخص القضية: خلاصة الدعوى ، مختصر واف للقضية وتطوّراتها حسب واقع سجلها.
</li><li>acid (LSD, an hallucinogenic drug)- n. مادّة مخدرة
</li><li>accomplice (assistant in a crime)- n متدخل أو شریك في الجرم.
</li><li>accusation (written charge)-n إتهام، تهمة، ظن، و لائحة الاتهام: محرر تصدره النيابة العامة یتضمن إتهاما لشخص معين بارتكاب فعل یعاقب عليه القانون
</li><li>accused (defendant)- n المتّهم، الظنين : حالة شخص وجه اليه الإتهام بارتكاب جریمة معينة
</li><li>acquit (to decide as innocent, let free)- v . یبرّئ المتّهم من ارتكاب الجرم.
</li><li>adjudicate (to judge)- v تقاضي
</li><li>adjudication (deciding of a case through judicial or administrative hearing)- n الترافع أمام المحكمة والفصل فيها.
</li><li>admissible (acceptable)- adj مقبول لدى المحكمة  </li><li>aid and abet (to assist in a crime)- v المتآمر والمتعاون في الجریمة وهو یشمل جميع ضروب المساعدة من قبول أو عمل أو تشجيع أو الحضور الشخصي عند إرتكاب الجریمة للإسعاف بالمعونة اللازمة.
</li><li>alibi (defendant’s story of innocence when a crime is committed, allegedly by another)- n تقدیم بيانات تثبت أن المتّهم بريء عند إرتكاب الجریمة.
</li><li>alien (foreign-born immigrant who is not naturalized)- n أجنبي مولود خارج البلاد. نفقة المطلقة: نفقة معجلة یحق للزوجة مطالبة الزوج بها . </li><li>allegation (statement of fact the party intends to prove)- n إدعاء زعم، بيان من أحد أطراف الدعوى .
</li><li>alleged (asserted as a true fact, but not yet proven)- adj یدعي:عن طریق تقدیم لائحة یقدّمها المدعي أو وآيله لدى المحكمة المختصة في النظر في الدعوى، یذآر فيها الوقائع ومن ثم یتطرق الى البحث القانوني بالمواد القانونيّة التي تنطبق عليها ویختمها بالطلبات لربح الإدعاء .

</li><li>amendment (modification of a document)- n عملية التعدیل والتنقيح في وثيقة
</li><li>amphetamine (a stimulant and appetite-suppressing narcotic)- n مادّة مخدرة، أمفيدامين
</li><li>angel dust (PCP, an hallucinogenic drug)- n مادّة مخدرة (غبار الملائكة)
</li><li>answer (defendant’s formal document setting out defense in a civil case)- n لائحة جوابية: هي مستند یقدمه المدعى عليه أو وآيله أمام السلطات القضائية وهو یشكل المستند الخطي الأساسي المكتوب من قبل المدعى عليه و یتضمن رداً مفصلاً على الوقائع المكتوبة ودحضا لادعاء المدعي وردا للتهم الموجهة اليه من قبل المدعي بلائحة الدعوى  </li><li>arson (beginning a criminal fire)- n حریق متعمد یكون عادة على درجات ثلاث.
</li><li>assault (attack on another person)- n هجوم وإعتداء جسماني على الغير بقصد الإیذاء، التعدي بالضرب والإكراه البدني.
</li><li>assault, aggravated (higher degree of assault)- n هجوم مبرح، إعتداء الذي یرافقه من الملابسات ما یزید خطورته أو بشاعته آأن لا یقف عند مجرد التّعدي الجسماني بل یقترن أیضاّ بنيّة جنائية أخرى أو استعمال أسلحة خطرة، أو أستخدام وسائل وحشية مخلة بالشرف.
</li><li>assault with a deadly weapon (attacking a person with a weapon that could potentially take a life)- n هجوم بالسّلاح: هجوم واعتداء مرافقاً استعمال أسلحة خطرة .
</li><li>assignee (counsel assigned to defendant)- n الموآّل إليه، المحال إليه: الشخص الذي صار التنازل أو التفرغ عن الحق إليه ولمصلحته.
</li><li>attest (to affirm under oath)- v. حلفان اليمين والقسم
</li><li>bail (money or property given as security for the release of a defendant awaiting trial)- n الإفراج عن الموقوف بالكفالة.
</li><li>bail bondsman (person responsible hired to enforce the conditions of bail)- n الكفيل.
</li><li>bail forfeiture (losing the money spent on bail because defendant violates the conditions of the bail)- n الاستنكاف والتخلف عن مضمون الكفالة.
</li><li>bail review (official reconsideration of bail)- n مراجعة الكفالة .
</li><li>bailiff (officer of the court)- n. مُحضر المحكمة .
</li><li>brandishing a weapon (carrying a weapon in a threatening manner)- n حمل السلاح بأسلوب تهدیدي.
</li><li>breathalyzer (breath test for alcohol)- n. تحليل الشهيق والزفير لشم رائحة الكحول ومعرفة وجوددها .
</li><li>comply (to act as directed or ordered)- v یمتثل أو یخضع لأوامر .
</li><li>confession (admission of guilt)- n إعتراف وإقرار
</li><li>confiscate (governmental seizure of property)- v یصادر، ینتزع .
</li><li>conflict of interest (reason a party to the case might be too personally involved to provide objective services)- n تعارض المصالح.
</li><li>conspiracy (an unlawful plot, a plan to do something illegal)- n مؤامرة، مكيدة: اجتماع شخصين أو أآثر على تدبير سري یشترآون بموجبه في اقتراف فعل مناف للقانون.
</li><li>constitutional right (a freedom guaranteed by the Constitution)- n الحق الّدستوري .
</li><li>contempt of court (acting against the rules of the court)- n إنتهاك حرمة المحكمة: آل فعل أو إهمال قصدي یهدف الى تعطيل سير إجراءات المحاآمة أو عرقلة أوامرها أو إهانتها بأي قول أو فعل.
</li><li>continuance (rescheduling a legal proceeding for a later date)- n تأجيل جلسة المحكمة لموعد آخر .
</li><li>controlled substance (government-regulated substance)- n مواد مخدّرة مسجلة لدى الحكومة.
</li><li>convict (an individual who has been found guilty and incarcerated)- n. مُدان، مذنب.
</li><li>conviction (finding of guilt in a criminal case)- n حكم، إدانة، قرار إدانة تعلنه هيئة المحلّفين ضد المتّهم.
</li><li>coroner (public officer who determines the cause of death)- n الطبيب الشرعي: موظف عام یحدد سبب الوفاة .
</li><li>corroborate (to verify)- v یؤید، یساند، یتماثل مع .
</li><li>counsel (lawyer, legal representation)- n محامٍ، مستشار قانوني. یساعد موآله بإسداء النصح والمشورة القانونيّة له  </li><li>court (place where trials and legal proceedings occur)- n محكمة: المكان الذي تنظلر فيه الخصومات والقضایا والمسائل القانونيّة وتطبق القوانين .
</li><li>court house (building where trials and legal proceedings occur)- n مبنى المحكمة ومقرها.
</li><li>court interpreter (bilingual trained person who translates proceedings between languages for all parties in the case)- n مترجم المحكمة .
</li><li>death penalty (sentence of death for a criminal)- n حكم بالإعدام .
</li><li>death row (incarceration for inmates awaiting the death penalty)- n ینتظر حكم الإعدام .
</li><li>defendant (the accused in a legal proceeding, trial)- n المدعى عليه .
</li><li>defense (the defendant/accused and defense attorney)- n المدعى عليه، أو محامي المدعى عليه .</li><li>defense attorney (legal counsel for the accused)- n محامي المدعى عليه .
</li><li>deliberation (careful consideration)- n. مداولة، مذاآرة .
</li><li>deportation (expelling of a non-citizen from the country)- n ترحيل وطرد شخص لایتمتع بجنسية الدولة إلى دولة أخرى .
</li><li>entrapment (to capture by leading into a trap)- n مكيدة، إیقاع شخص معين عن طریق إغراءه وحمله على إتيان فعل إجرامي مخالف للقانون .
</li><li>equal protection (constitutional guarantee that every person will be treated equally by the government)- n حق یمنحه الدّستور بالمعاملة المتساویة والعادلة وعدم التفرقة لكل فرد في الدولة.
</li><li>eviction (expel from one’s residence by the owner)- n تخلية: نزع ید شخص عن عقار من قبل الدولة وإخلاؤه بالطرق القانونيّة .
</li><li>evidence (a statement, object, etc. supporting a point in the case)- n بيّنة، إثبات، دليل: آل وسيلة للإثبات یصح تقدیمها آبيّنة وإثبات للمحكمة .
</li><li>immunity (exemption from a charge or penalty)- n إعفاء من عقوبة .
</li><li>impeachment of witness (discrediting a witness)- n طعن في أهلية الشاهد: تقدیم بيّنة على أن الشاهد لا یستأهل الثقة والتصدیق.
</li><li>inadmissible (not acceptable)- adj غير مقبول في المحكمة .
</li><li>incriminate (to involve in, or make appear guilty of, a crime or fault)- v یجرّم، یسند تهمة الى شخص .
</li><li>injunction (court order prohibiting or ordering an action)- n أمر قضائي بالقيام بعمل معين أو بالإمتناع عن عنل معين
</li><li>judgment suspended ) to delay making a decision about something until you know more about it (  الحكم مع وقف التنفيذ
</li><li>negligence (carelessness)- n إهمال، تقصير، عدم بذل العنایة الكافية .
</li><li>not guilty (innocent)- adj غير مذنب .
</li><li>null and void (invalid, without legal force)- adj ملغي، باطل .
</li><li>oath (sworn statement)- n یمين، قسم، إشهاد صریح یعلن به صاحبه أنه ملزم نحو اللّه عز وجلّ بأداء القسم بصدق وأمانة .
</li><li>object (to express disapproval or opposition)- v یعترض .
</li><li>objection (the expressing of disapproval or opposition)- n الإعتراض.
</li><li>objection overruled (objection rejected) الإعتراض تم رفضه.
</li><li>objection sustained (objection agreed to) الإعتراض تم قبوله.
</li><li>offender (person who committed a crime)- n مذنب، مرتكب جریمة أو جنحة .
</li><li>offense (violation of law)- n جرم، الإخلال بالقانون .
</li><li>pretrial offense (offense committed before the trial begins)- n سوابق قام المتّهم بإرتكابها قبل المحاكمة.
</li><li>priors (previous offenses committed by the defendant)- n سوابق قام المتّهم بإرتكابها.
</li><li>privilege (a special right, favor, etc. granted to a person or group)- n إمتياز، ممنوح لشخص أو لمجموعة.
</li><li>probable cause (a reasonable explanation for why something occurred)- n السبب المحتمل أو المعقول الذي أدى لحدوث النتيجة .
</li><li>probation, formal (conditional suspension of a convict’s prison sentence)- n الحكم مع وقف التنفيذ والمراقبة.
</li><li>subpoena (written legal order directing a person to appear in court to testify, etc.)- n أمر حضور كتابي یفرض على الشخص الموجه إليه أن یحضر أمام المحكمة المعنيّة .
</li><li>sue (to prosecute in civil court in seeking to redress wrongs)- v یقاضي، یرفع قضية .
</li><li>suit (action to secure justice in a court of law)- n دعوى .
</li><li>sustain (to maintain, agree to, e.g. to agree to and enforce an objection made by an attorney)- v یؤید، یجيز، یقرّ .
</li><li>swear (to declare under oath)- v یقسم بعد حلف اليمين .
</li><li>testify (to give evidence under oath in a court of law)- v یدلي بشهادته تحت القسم .
</li><li>testimony (the evidence given under oath in a court of law)- n شهادة شفویة تحت القسم .
</li><li>waive time (to cut time off a prison sentence)- waiver of rights (official giving up of one’s constitutional rights)- n. التنازل عن الحقوق الدستوریة .
</li><li>warrant (order, permit, writ)- n أمر، ضمان .
</li><li>warrant, arrest (order issued by the court for law enforcement officials to arrest a suspect)- n أمر من المحكمة بالاعتقال .
</li><li>warrant, bench (a writ authorized by judge for a search, seizure, arrest, etc.)- n أمر من المحكمة بالبحث والتحري والاعتقال
</li><li>warrant, search (permission given to law enforcement by the court to search a suspect’s house, etc. for evidence)- n أمر من المحكمة بالبحث والتحري بهدف إستقصاء الأدلة .
</li><li>weapon (item used to attack another)- n سلاح .
</li><li>weapon, concealed (weapon hidden somewhere on the suspect)- n إخفاء السلاح .
</li><li>witness (someone who sees a crime occur, or is otherwise an expert in some aspect of the case and asked to testify in court)- n شاهد، شخص شاهد وقائع الجریمة، تطلب منه الشهادة في المحكمة أو متخصص تطلب منه الشهادة في المحكمة بسبب خبرته .
</li><li>witness, hostile (a witness for the opposing side) -n شاهد معادٍ، الشاهد الذي یبدي أثناء الشهادة من واضح العداوة تجاه الخصم (الذي أستشهد به) ما تجيز معه المحكمة لهذا لخصم أن یناقشه ویعامله آأنه شاهد خصمه .
