Hi Girls...it is s nice corner that I did not know about...Anyhow, I am happy to participate with all of you here

English Language is very essencial at my work and I enjoy spekaing and writing in English...I like it and I find it so easy and cute...not like other languages like Dutch or French..that i think are so hard and complicated

I learned English from school, college and mostly Movies and Songs...I used to listen to lyrics a lot and try to know what they mean in Arabic and this one made me so good and enhanced my vocabulary alot

Thanks for opening such a topic

Cheers

:)

hellooooo dear.. :) and am glad you got to know about us.. ur presence is even nicer ..

lol i too find english easy.. and it surprises me to see others who find it extremely difficult.. especially those who speak french.. i think english is so much simpler than french.. but then again maybe it's because i learnt english before french.. and anyways it's been a long time since i used or revised the french language .. and most of what i knew is ... alhamdullilah forgotten.. <weeping face>

TV is truly a great idea.. for it also gives you an idea about accents ..

So.. have you also learnt french or dutch since you spoke about them?
it's interesting to learn other languages .. no matter how difficult they might be..
alas there's not much time or patience < sigh >

thanks for being here dear..

hope to see you again........ :)

WOW … I am glad that girls decided to join

Is there anything in particular you like or dislike about the language?

Well, I would say difference in US and UK English that’s what keeps bothering me, when you learn an UK English word and try to use it, those who’re used to the American English would think why we’re so complicated looool and vise versa English people would think that we’re abusing their language when we use the American English, … I hope my point is clear here

If you had a choice to go back, would you still choose to learn it?

Yes, I would choose this language again along with other languages. It’s an international language and the only way to communicate with almost the entire world. The only change I would make is that I would have learnt it in younger age. As I mentioned earlier, I have learnt it from school at the forth grade because I feel somehow that I have missed a lot.

Has it really helped you in anyway?
With good English I’ve the chance to continue with my higher education and get hired for my current job. I believe it’s going to help me in the future if I decided to go for the master’s degree. Besides, I always wanted to be an educated mother for my children in the future, Alhamdulellah for everything.

welcome back Rajawi dear

omg you are so right about american and british english.. with everyone claiming their's to be the right language..

i myself notice a great difference.. and i wouldn't say complicated but British english is somewhat formal i think.. and it's beautiful.. so wordy and expressive..

and American english is beutiful in it's own way too..

and being neither American nor British.. i myself like using both.. as the situations require.. lol and i wouldn't worry about any of their feelings :shy:

and about learning it at a younger age.. i think it doesn't really matter anymore.. what matters is that you have learned ot and mastered it.. and well done by the way.. not many people have the will to do so..

if they don't learn it in childhood.. they won't even bother trying to learn in their adulthood.. strange.. eh?

about higher studies.. now that you mention this point.. i think it's absolutely necessary for a holder of any degree to have a good idea of the english language..

especially if its masters and above.. it saddens me to see degree holders not knowing a single word of english..

i am not saying english is the most important language.. but i do think thats it's an international language.. and most conferences around the world and held in english..

(y)

Inshallah you will be the best mother a child can have..
and when it happens.. dont forget to tell us :shy:

Hello Miss stubborn I always read your interested topic and I never participate

So this my first participation with you I hope you like it

I like English language tooooooo much since I was child

I graduated from English literature department before 2 years I teach English language

For elementary school 2nd and 3ed grade for one year

But now im at home and I fell that I lost my language and im too sad because of that

I try to watch English programs in channel 4 like opra and Dr Phill to improve my

Language

I think that practicing language is one of the importance means to learn English

Thanks again for your topic my sis

:shy:

hi there desert girl.. you have a lovely name.. and i am sorry i skipped your earlier reply.. i don't know how it happened.. i was too buzy preparing tea and cookies and cakes and what all you see above.. for you all.. sorry dear.. i am gonna have to set a special table for you soon :shy: ...

firstly i hope this wont be your last participation with us in our corner.. and wow your specialty is interesting.. i love english literature.. one of my favourite subjects.. (y)

Are there any particular poets / writers whose works you enjoy?

and how come you decided to stay at home? i know teaching is very difficult.. God knows i wouldn't have the patience to teach.. ha ha when i try to teach my sisters something i have a stick ready with me.. lol i am kidding.. but i do use a very high voice with them... i have this weird concept.. that if there's something i understand then others should be able to understand it too.. ha ha .. ok i would make a bad teacher i think..

i hope you would share with us some of your teaching techniques.. or even talk about your experince..
what do you think is the best method to use? especially with children?
is there a difference between teaching children.. and adults?

and since you have taught this subject.. allow me to ask you.. do you think english should be studied at a young age?.. say first grade? or is it better to start at a late age? like in high school?

i know i have asked so many questions.. i would appreciate your answering them.. :)

and practice is an absolute must.. without it your knowledge of the language is bound to fade ......

thank you so much sweeetie for being around.. and forgive me..........

i am waiting for you to return :)

Secondly, I would say, you’ve got a point there; people should have the will to learn first. It’s an essential thing, I guess. And I believe that people participating here have it (r)

Hi Miss stubborn no please don’t apologize I excuse you and I know you are busy in

Preparing your wonderful tea party my dear

How do you know that I like chocolate cake too much thank you
Ilike English literature a lot although it is very difficult especially History of English

Language in 4th year and our Dr was from Pakistan and she doesn’t give the subject

Its right she doesn’t tire her self by teaching us she just sit on the chair and read from

The book ooooooooooh it was bad days God forgive her

About my favorite poet and writer I like William Sakes pear plays

Such as : The Merchant Of Venice it was wonderful play with its evil Jewish character Shaylock really the writer gives us Abad image about Jewish people through this character he show us how they are greedy and people with a bad nature

About teaching

Teaching really is a nice job especially when you teach children
Really its funny the subject is nothing its very easy but the difficult thing is how
To give them the information in an easy and funny way
With children the teacher must be kind and very calm cuze u know the children is
Very active according to there age they always moving talking and playing Iwas very calm I never shout on their faces I always try to listen to them and never ignore there
Speech to give them confidence on them selves

Surly its better to teach English in a very young age cuze learning the students early
This will help them to understand the language bases My best wishes
Desert girl

you said your level is high especially in speaking.. do you find speaking easier than writing? if yes why? and what exactly do you think is the difference between them?

hi again,,,,,,aimfull qustions sweeite and am glad to be here and answer as much as i can,,,

i started learning this language since i was 6 years old in my school but as u know our schools in arabic area are not intrestd enough on other languages so i started by my own ,,,

(if u know the big american series (FRIENDS
i bought all of the series and start translating every word,,,it was fun for me to know how to speak in english ,,,,i think speaking is much easier than writing maybe because of the spelling and grammer,,,,we need to improve our languge by learn more grammer and know where to use it and when ,,,,about my brother mmmmm he is studying at a british school so he love the language and i encourage him all the time to learn,,,abosloutly we are not ignoring the arabic language cz as the said its the mother language :)
some people think its wrong to talk with children and teach them english but in my point of view that we have to make a balance between both languages not to make them confuse and not to allow children forget arabic language,,,

to be honest with u ,,,english language now a day is more important especially in work area ,,,all jops require this language,,,,so no one can say its not important,,,,

hi again dear.. and allow me to congratullate you on your mentality.. i agree with you there.. i for one am definitely against ignoring a person's mother tongue,, but i do strongly believe that its better to learn languages while young.. and the more languages the better,, lol

and out of experience i can say you are absolutely right.. english is almost the most important language at work..

as for movies.. i have learnt many things from them myself.. but i do pay equal attention to books cuz reading ismy number one love

:) (y)

you are probably on your holidays now.. but i hope to see you soon dear..

:flower: flower: :flower:
good luck to you and your bro..

Rajawi:
:shy: I just wanted to comment on learning methods… like in Arabic language, reading is a way to learn new words. I love reading and when I joined college I started reading a lot. There might be some new words you don’t understand them when you first read them, but eventually when you read the paragraph or reread the same words in different paragraphs, you’ll guess the meaning. And REMEMBER don’t translate each and every word you read, just try to get the rough idea of the sentence and ENJOY what you’re reading.

I would recommend that you start reading small stories, or even kids stories. You’ll develop the habit of reading and you’ll start to be a cozy reader
Regards,
Rajawi

goood evening rajawi dear..

i cannot disagree with you there.. i am obsessed with books.. i read anything ..

and it's true you dont have to translate every word.. you get a main idea and sometimes you can guess what the word is... with time it becomes so easy you wont even need a dictionary..

thanks to one of my english teachers.. i have had a lot of experience doing this.. lol

hope to see you soooon

Hey girlz, well I am very happy to be a part in the
is cute little tea party even thought I do like drink coffee lol

I am so glad to join you guyz Rajawi and بنت الغالي ^_^

Anyway, I am going to answer the question first and then add some unrelated comments

هل تتكلم الانجليزيه؟ اذا نعم .. كيف تقيم مستواك ؟

Yeah I do speak English, umm it is hard to evaluate my own English, but I guess in a scale of 10 I will be 8 or 8 and half ( I know I am so modest ) I hope I can continue learning more about this language but since graduation I didn’t use it that much, I do only use in the conversation with people in malls and super market. Well this lead us to the second question

اين تعلمتها ؟ وما الصعوبات او المشاكل التي واجهتك ؟

Of course from school but I did use it much when I joined university since all the subjects were in English. I didn’t had any difficulty because I do love talking in English and I tend to express myself in English much easier than Arabic lol ( I know it is weird)
The only difficulty that I faced is when I do talk with people from Australia, well I don’t know why but the way they talk is annoying and in the same time confusing. I remember my management teacher was Australian and I was confused in the class in the first three weeks after that I got used to it. But still I find the way they talk funny.

هل تستخدمم اللغه بشكل يومي؟

I do try to use English everyday because for any second language practice is very important. Well I will add what I would call them tips that helped me improve my English:

1) Watch English movies and TV Show without any kind of translation.
2) Try to talk to anyone in malls and supermarket in English.
3) Make friends from other countries and try to communicate and send emails back and forth in order to practice my writing in English and in the same time learn more about their culture.

such tips would be very helpful and I think it depends on the person in which she would know what suits her the most in order to improve her language.

hellooooo... it's so good to have you here.. so thank you for passing by.. and i hope you enjoyed our tea party which i personally attended to.. ( talk about lying hehe)

mashallah your english is good but it's sad that after graduation you seem not to be using it much although you haven't completely abandoned it.., and thats good really.. trying to talk in english whenever you ger a chance is better than not ever using it...

i think in every country you will find some ppl with different accents that are a bit diificult to understand.. for me i used to find the southern american accent difficult but i am a bit used to it now... i can maker out some talks..

your tips are very useful and your contribution is very much appreciated..

plz let us see you again ..

welcome back desert girl... i think i will have you seated next to me on the same table.. then we can talk about shakespeare and his plays.. they are difficult to study but otherwise interesting.. when i saw the merchant of venice the first time at school i liked it soo much and i thought it gave a good picture of the jews.. but when i saw the movie a while ago i thought they had it made in a way that made the viewers sympathize with the jews..
but i wasnt surprised.. since most movie makers seem to be jewish ...
